Death is the quell to what we knew
By Anne-Marie Silbiger
For my husband
Without you, everything is new. The familiar is unfamiliar since you flew. New dawns, new days. New fears, new ways. A new me, without you. I make a companion of silence, giving it space. Unbuttoning my breaths, I bed me well. Bathing in dreams you orchestrate. Death is the quell to what we knew, but my ghosts and I, we got things to do. A new me, without you.
