Raincoat

By Daniel Fletcher
I do all I can
in the battle against the elements
to keep myself zipped up tight,
hoping the rain won’t seep through the fabric.

Calling out through the downpour
in quiet confidence
a sunny, gentle voice says
“it’s okay.”

Looking up
I see she wears one too -
her heart on her sleeve -
and her warm embrace will be just enough
for the clouds to break.

Interval Guitarist

By Daniel Fletcher
Every note
pressed from his fingers
is an unspoken poetry.

The shimmering soundscape resonates
between shadows and souls
amplified.

Daniel Fletcher is a poet from Nottingham, United Kingdom, and can be seen performing from time to time at various open mic nights in venues around the city. An undergraduate in Media and Creative
Writing from York St John University – and an unashamed glass-half-full romantic – his poetry often taps into a deeply held desire to find hope and light in an often dark world.

He is currently working on his first collection.
