Fox

By Elisabeth Flett
it’s not that surprising you saw a fox

you say
eyes rolling

they’re pretty common you know

but oh

there was no commonness in the air that night

not in that breath

when I turned the corner and she did too

the two of us staring at each other
for a second
held in place by eternity
