Humming
By Kirsty Fox
if you sit perfectly still
no one will see (me)
if you camouflage your nest
(my) little eggs will be safe from predation
if you're fast enough
(i'll) flee elsewhere in a wingbeat
>>>
ruby-throated hummingbird
nest destroyed
suspended
hanging by a thread
dishevelled remnants
I touch it and find a soft pocket, a thimble of moss & lichen
of dandelion down & tiny feathers
of stretchy spider silk woven in hope
